Garden to table...

There is a growing movement towards healthier eating. The philosophy of garden to table is a simple one and is based on using locally grown, seasonal produce. Buying produce grown by local urban farmers which can be harvested when needed not only ensures the highest level of freshness, it also ensures peak flavour and maximum nutritional value.

As a small business wanting to uplift a community, we need your support. Come see our garden space, buy organic herbs and more, have a meal and a chat over coffee and get to know the ‘story’ behind the origins of your food.

Want to know how you could get involved? Contact Cleone or Nicole at hello@littlegreenthings.co.za

Get Involved

Volunteer

At LGT we believe the best way to make a difference is to connect at grassroots level. Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities so we encourage volunteers to get involved to grow vegetable patches at the centre that will sustain many families in the surrounding communities who live below the breadline. Contact us to chat about our volunteering opportunities.

We also create avenues for corporate volunteering which allows staff and teams to make a sustainable difference to persons with disabilities in communities.

Workshops

Learn how to grow a variety of fruit, vegetables, and herbs in small spaces and become a master of pots and planting. Put your green fingers to the test in the garden and the kitchen by growing your own fresh produce. We will help you start your own vegetable patch before cooking up tasty homemade recipes using your crop.

Perfect gift or team building experience with take home starter grow kit.

The Indoor Herb Garden

The Indoor Herb Garden

Herbs like basil, sage and coriander add a blast of flavor to any meal. If you want to get started growing your own, come join us at our next workshop. LGT follows the practice of organic growing methods with no use of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. At this workshop you will be part of an interactive, hands-on demonstration from germination to transplanting plants.

The Dirt on Composting

The Dirt on Composting

Composting is nature’s way of recycling. At these workshops we invite you to participate in the composting process by showing you how yard waste and food scraps are broken down and become food for plants.

Sprouts & Microgreens Production

Sprouts & Microgreens Production

Microgreens are tiny edible plants that are older than a sprout, but younger than a full-grown plant.  Many microgreens contain up to 40 times more nutrients that mature plants. At this workshop you will learn how to grow microgreens and sprouts in your kitchen.

Cannabis Culture Workshops

Cannabis Culture Workshops

Our Cannabis Culture workshops are aimed at people who would like to grow their own cannabis plants at home. These intimate workshops are offered in a safe and fun environment. Here knowledge can be gained on soil culture, nutrients, different growing mediums and the various growing stages of the plant.
